THE FORMAT OF THE EXAM
LEVEL B2
Time 120 minutes
Total score: 100 points
Exam tasks:
Listening Comprehension 20 points 20 min.
Reading Comprehension 20 points 30 min.
Language elements 50 points 40 min.
Writing 10 points 30 min.
LISTENING COMPREHENSION
Two tasks, lasting up to 3 minutes each, played twice. A monologue and a dialogue, topics connected with business, 10 elements, 2 points each
Task one
Gap filling, listening for specific information, e.g. data concerning a company or details of a business phone conversation: 5 gaps, 2 points each, total maximum score: 10 points
Task two
Five sentences, true or false, 2 points each, total maximum score: 10 points; listening for general information, e.g. understanding a problem. Texts describing a product, a brand, banking and finance, the internet, new technologies, cultural differences, big cities.
READING COMPREHENSION
Two texts: one quasi-technical ( topics concerning: IT, computers, production process, environmental protection, sources of energy) , the other - a business text: 4-6 numbered paragraphs, 350-400 words each.
Task three
Matching sentences with numbered paragraphs. Recognizing the organization of a text: 6 sentences taken out of the text and and 5 gaps to be filled in with them ( one extra sentence) : 5 sentences, 2 points each, total maximum score: 10 points
Task four
Multiple choice, understanding general as well as specific information, three answers to a question, one correct to be chosen, 5 questions, 2 points each, total maximum score: 10 points
LANGUAGE ELEMENTS
Task five
Functions: translating, from Polish into English, parts of sentences, given in brackets, characteristic for business or workplace situations. 5 sentences, 2 points each, total maximum score: 10 points
Task six
Describing a trend, a graph (15 words in their basic form, 10 of which, in the correct form, like tense or number, are to fill in the gaps) 10 gaps, 1 points each
Task seven
Multiple choice, checking the knowledge of verb forms in clauses and sentences; 3 or 4 options to choose from for each of ten sentences. 10 gaps, 1 points each
Task 8.
Wordbuilding. A text, with 10 gaps and ten words In Basic forms to be transformed into logical ones to fill In these gaps, 1 point for each correct word.
Task 9. Technical language, filling 10 gaps, each with one appropriate Word or phrase. 10 gaps, 1 points each, the first letter of each word given.
WRITING
Task 10. A formal e-mail of120-150 words. The topics include: covering letter, a request for information, four questions to be asked. 10 points.
